Håvar Bauck is a seasoned entrepreneur and business developer, with 20 years of experience from technology companies and startups in African markets.

Håvar founded Savanna Sunrise together with Endre Opdal in 2014. The idea behind it was based on the marketing formula from their massively successful joint hotel project, Nairobi Airport Hotel, launched a year earlier in Syokimau, next to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.  In 2017, Savanna Sunrise merged with a Polish competitor in a highly-publicized cross-border merger to become what is today known as HotelOnline.

His journey on the African continent started in 2002, when after college, he arrived in Kenya for what was supposed to be a one-year internship. He stayed on afterwards, and has since also lived in Lagos and Kinshasa. He has visited half of the countries on the African continent. The other half is on his bucket list!

Håvar Bauck graduated from BI Norwegian Business School in 2002 with a Master’s degree in Business and Economics.

He speaks Norwegian, English, French and German fluently, and is also conversant in Swahili.
